    Re: Mike's Northern Virginia Build

Thanks for all of the replies.
I am taking it slow during the curing. The oven air dried for 10 days since the last dome brick went in and 8 days since the very last brick on the chimney transition.

I also ran a ceramic heater for 4 days. I got the temps up into the mid - high 150's for the better part of 3 days as I modified my heater and took out the thermostat and it dean continuously.

I also lit my first fire! Just a small one with some twigs/paper/shims. The chimney draws great!

Today I dry fit the clay flue, and buttressed the arch. I used 6"x8"x16" blocks and cut them to size. I also drilled a 2" deep hole into the slab, put in a piece of rebar and then filled with cement. I put full width pieces of FB board jammed in between the vent and buttress blocks.

I also began the framing, I am using 20g metal track and studs. I got the bottom track in. I hope to get the majority of the remaining framing done tomorrow on father's day. I will mortar the chimney flue in place once I have the majority of the framing in.

Happy father's day to all of the dads, enjoy your families and make some pizza!

        Re: Mike's Northern Virginia Build

Started the framing today, and continued the curing fires. Hope to finish the roof trusses and chimney framing tomorrow. Didn't realize that I had the studs upside down for the wiring, but i am not running wires so it shouldn't make any difference. Will install the hardibacker once the oven is cured and I have the insulation on it. Depending on the temperatures I hit tomorrow, I may just put the blanket on and try to get it watertight before the rain later in the week. It is beginning to get difficult to move the ex-up tent back and forth over it.
