A little extra thermal mass. It will take your floor a bit longer to heat up, but you'll have more heat for longer, right? So you can do pizza on Wed night and a full Thanksgiving meal with all the fixin's on Thursday. Sounds good to me!

Harley looks pretty bored there in the second picture. You need to reminder her it's a PIZZA oven!

I added a layer of fire mortar to my perlcrete.

I might have screwed up, but I think it will work for me.

    Here are some updated pics.

I'm gonna rest the bricks on top. And my walls will surround the floor and sit on the perlcrete.

    I used Masonite.
    3/16 of an inch thick.

I bought it in a 4 ft by 8 ft sheet, and then ripped it down with my circular saw into 4 inch rips.

It bends easy, and works great for curves.

No dome for me this week.

I have to wait on the delivery of more perlite.

I can't get the stuff in my town....

    The perlcrete pour...

At least part of it....... Wish I lived in a bigger town sometimes.....................

I also squeezed the mix to make sure the ratio was right. The water just barely came out with hard squeezing.

Note: What I poured was pretty hard about 8 hours later.
Of course it still has some give with a fingertip.

I did remember to mix the cement and perlite together before adding water.

5 parts perlite to 1 part cement.

Just a few pictures of the finished form for the oven floor insulating layer.

I was happy with how it turned out!

I redrew my floor circle. I didn't like the string method. It wasn't very accurate.

So here is what I used to redraw the floor.
