Bingo! I tried all options, but finally got it working! For some reason, I got it working on the touch pad with "Gesture Navigation" and not the "TouchPad Navigation"

Were you able to toggle the greyed out components on and off?

Yes I was able to toggle visibility on the greyed out items. I think you may have missed one reply on the bottom of page 4.
