[QUOTE=Yeager;n389041]What's the hottest temp you can get without insulation on? I am trying to figure out if I can make a deadline for a 4th of July party if I don't have a structure to protect the insulation]
Yeager I too would like to be at full cooking temp for the 4th of July. Hopefully more experienced members will chime in. I'm sure many builders were also asking this same question. Good luck.

I think that both camps for the "drying" fires of before and after insulation are right. It is just that the before takes a litle more slower ramp up of temps. The cooler the weather without insulation, the slower the ramp up.
Just sayin'

I would be very careful of that gas line in the oven. That rubber hose will be at the same temp as your internal oven

Saluki, we both are anxious and want to get some pies cooking in theses babies. I'm not sure if í will go to full curing temp as í dont have any blanket insulation on my dome yet, so many different opinions on this forum for and without insulation when curing the oven.

I also used that same adapter. Man, I need to get some insulation on mine so I can start some curing fires.

First curing fire today. Using my turkey fryer for a controlled heat, didnt want the flame licking the dome yet.
Took 2.5 hours to get 250° . Held it at 200° for 4 hours today, will continue the same tomorrow.3 Photos

I had to add 4 corner supports for my supervent, the flange holes were too close to brick edge. I also beveled the inside face of each corner brick to help smoke transition into the supervent.2 Photos

Thanks Yeager, your build looks great. I also plan on wrapping the the soldier course with 1/4 metal fabric at least to the full height of the soldiers and use homebrew to lock it in. I'm hoping this will act as a buttress to help support the soldier course. I will post some pics when i start the work.

Good idea with the brackets supporting each wall with the archway - I was going to comment on that, but you addressed it! I am going to use 12" Concrete Block in to support each side.

I covered the entry with the arch template and sealed the entry with a towel and got temp up to 250, will leave the lights on for a couple more days.Originally posted by ivancito View PostFinally plugged the dome and entry arch is done, waiting on chimney anchor plate to build up the chimney. I had 2 heat lamps on overnight and barely reading 150°. Thanks everyone. Ivan
