    Inside Arch Complete

Big day today. Decided to finish the third row before adding the outward stress of the inside arch. Then moved on to the arch. What fun it was to put in the keystone. Going to let it set up for a couple of days before I pull out the support.

      Greg,
Nice to see your progress. Everything looks great. It is a lot of fun working on some of the harder parts, like the arch and tie-in. Keep the pictures coming.

Hey Greg, your inner arch is really tight! Great job tappering those bricks. That's going to be very strong arch. Nice work. Take care, Dino

            Re: Greg's Pompeii 42" - San Diego

            Hi Greg,
Thanks for asking. Yea I have been lighting a lot of fires.I've learned (the hard way) that placing the pizza in the oven with the toppings intact is a developed skill. I am really enjoying cooking in it. I have done a few things on the construction end of mine that I will post this weekend.
I think it was Bill who was saying last week that once the oven is working you lose a little of the motivation to finish the outside. But I'm ready to continue.
I've been following your build and it looks fantastic.

Another San Diegan taking the plunge. Greg I finally started. Got 4 courses of the block up. Now trying to decide on how high. When everyones WFO are done we should start a monthly circuit between houses. I'll try to start a thread on my build

wasnt too tired to post pictures, but wife had the camera in her purse....I aint going in there.

Fired off a few snaps tonight. finished another ring and a little more.
Starting to look like something. Can't say my arch tie in is pretty but it will work.

Son Ryan was just told his job is going to be to clean the inside....

I don't know if you could afford Ryan's daily rate....he eats me out of house and home. I am building this WFO just to see if we can feed him enough pizza.

Constant cleaning slows down the construction but I think it pays off in the end. I am 6'2" 270lbs. I don't think I'll be crawling around inside the oven anytime soon.

                              6th row transition

6th row starts with the last tough transtion between the arch and dome. In order to maintain as much strenght as possible, I went with full bricks and hollowed up a wedge to fit the arch.

Not very pretty but it works. A lot of sins can be covered with extra mortar.
