My opinion is that some low temp curing without a insulation makes sense. Once you get your oven temps up over 212F 100C I'd start to look at insulation so the oven heats cures evenly. My reasoning is that the more even the heating during curing the less cracking.

Oven Curing
I know the plans state that the oven should be cured after it's completed, but does anyone think it would be a good idea to cure the oven, at least somewhat, before the insulation blanket is installed, and again after the blanket and vermicrete shell? It just seems to me that it would dry more completely, more easily that way.
I'm nearing this point in my build and I just want to do what's best. Thanks.Tags: None
