Harringbone Pattern

So the oven plans that I have call for harringbone pattern for the hearth. Is there any advantage to doing this to make the extra work worthwhile?

Setting the hearth bricks in a herringbone pattern at 45 degrees will alleviate problems like the peel, pots or pans from catching on the joins.

Thanks sounds like its a good idea to do then. I will incorporate it into my build this summer

I really don't understand where your thoughts are mate!
How much extra work is there from laying the bricks in a Herringbone pattern, Stacked bond or as a brick wall pattern, known as Running Bond.
