  • Turning peel questions

I am tired of having to use my wooden peel to turn my pizza. It's too thick! I can't find affordable metal peels in my country so I'm thinking of having it contracted. What material should I use? Would galvanized steel be okay? 8 inch circles are the norm right? Is precise thickness of the metal important?

Look for an old scrap piece of stainless steel. A turning peel is 8 to 10" diameter and commonly called a banjo peel. I made mine with scrap SS and an old wood handle. Aluminum may work as well. I might be a little concerned with zinc from galvanized steel and food contact.

Oh I didn't think about scrap SS, that's a great idea. Maybe I can use some old pans/trays.
