For those that have utilized the Board System (as described by Les), how does this work as you close in on the top of the dome? Does the board get wedged in? How do you get it out at the end?

Re: Board System
Mike,
I had to notch the board with every course. If you are off 1/32 of an inch it will hang on the next one. I quit using it when I got to course 8 or 9 (don't recall). The opening was small enough at that point, and above the entry, I was able to just eye ball it. I was using hot melt glue to hold the bricks, made it pretty easy to get a good alignment. The BS worked for me - but not all the way to the plug.

Re: Board System
Sorry, Les. I thought you were joking. Could you clarify how you used a hot glue gun to hold the bricks together?

Re: Board System
Mike,
I put a little at the front then sat in the shim. The next brick I would put a little in front and some on the side of the previous brick, adding the shim. I just kept doing this until it was time to mortar. Don't know if you were following my build, but I am a huge believer in the grout bag. The only down side to this process was that the brick's need to be dry for the hot melt to hold. Turned it into a very slow task.

HaHA! I knew it!
...well, I knew you were using something we didn't know about, my guess was magic, so I think I got pretty close..."Building a Brick oven is the most fun anyone can have by themselves." (Terry Pratchett... slightly amended)
