I used Vermcrete under the floor, and Rockwool (that'd be "Other Insulation Blanket materials", right?) and loose Vermiculite on the dome.

Couple of people have done that recently. And its pretty standard for house style ovens, isn't it?

We used combinations...vermicrete and then FB board under the oven...then FB blanket...fiberglass and loose vermiculite on the dome

I used ceramic insulation board under the oven, 2-4 inches of spun ceramic blanket then 4 inches of perlite/portland cement mix. Works great.

            Steve

I looked at your pics. Looks Great!!-- What did you have 2" FB board under the floor and the 2-4 inches of spun blanket and the 4" perlite/portland mix on top?

              Re: Insulation Options??

Frono Bravo was out of stock on the FB board so I found a ceramic insulation board on-line and used it. My oven is 40 inches and I used 3 pieces of 2ft x 3ft board. I got 50 sq ft of the 2" spun insulation blanket (it comes in 1, 2 and 3 inch thicknesses) from the same website. Then used 16 cuft of perlite with some portland cement. I got the perlite from a nursery wholesaler down the road from me. Anyway, when the oven floor temp is around 800F, the bottom of the hearth slab is only about 100F. The exterior of the perlite/cement layer and the exterior of my housing is at ambient temperature. I am very happy with the insulation so far.
