Hello Dave, yes it was good to meet you both finally , i have some computer issues lately and been slack on the reply .i had all intentions to get outside and do the last stages of my oven on the weekend but had a lazy one instead.thanks for the per lite and the contact for more .i will need more soon as i hope to have the roof done by winter .i see Worbs back and sick of pizza , its good to try new flavours ..
i am going to a camping shop today to look at a metal shelf / rack for inside the oven, i have seen these on some of the posted photos and quite like them , 'multi level cooking ' i could fit a bit more in when the parties are in full swing.
i loved that boot you made Dave that would be a good avatar, the dragon boot in the shop.
we have another local wfo builder for the forum from burpengary , he has his oven all done and looks great so have a look at that one if you can, all the best , jas,

      Hi Jas
Long time no speak...of course hows you and yours? all well I hope. Ive been keeping busy work wise and at home. check the forum out Ive gone and added to daves build added an arch to the front of the oven to protect the hearth from rain. Mate of a mates checked the oven out and he is a rock mason tiler etc....I know its a bit scarey to show my mugs oven to an expert.
He was impressed with the amount of differnt bricks I'd included in the oven reconed the effect was good which made me feel great!
He has built a pizza oven in a resterant before and I showed him the forno plans he was impressed with the materials and plans. The oven he built came from plans sent from Italy and he had to stick to them really carefully.
He also recons that the brick of various types are my main problem in the rain as they soak up the moisture so he recons the easiest cure after covering the hearth is to paint on a couple watered down coats of Bondcrete. Its non toxic will not make the brick work shiney and most inportant it easy to get hold of and use.
Hows progress on the roof? Mate if you would like a hand it would be a pleasure Ive got all the tools you could need and it not can borrow the rest
So just say the word and its done.....cost ya though...coupla pizza... a few beers

      Regards Dave

Hello dave , sorry mate i been off the radar for a bit and have only had a few peeks at the forum lately, it's great to see your oven and your solution to the dampness and havn't we had a bit of that!!
well, lately i have been having a big break with the wfo and everything else around the yard but i havn't given up yet so i researched the colourbond roof sheets and they are not too bad priced but not good either , so i still have to render the out side and then we close to done .
Easter is coming up and i'm on the hunt for wood cos i not going anywhere just having the time at home .
i'll be back , regards jason.

          Dear Jas
Off on Hols for a week so the wood supply is safe for the moment. Finally nearly through the renovation wood and have a small supply of demolition (a church)to go. Been suplimented with a few tree falls from the local area to date but will have to find a more dependable supply of wood. Thinking of going for a sunday drive with a chainsaw, the truck and child bride and picnic.
Have called a few local councils to find out about collecting wood but they are very carefull about there answers ....
Brisbane council were the most direct ... they said thy were to busy with flood works any tree falls were there for the taking if I got there first

          Regards

Long time.. no hear...Hows things in your world. Just pottering around at he moment in the garden tiding things up after the summer. Looks like I got a friend who's interested in building a wood fired oven... showed him the forum recon he's hooked already. Makes you think a bit about what you would change if you started again doesn't it. Don't worry I don't think I would interfear with his plans to much just make sure he doesn't get himself in to much trouble.

A Big hello to you too Dave , yep sorry mate i havnt been on line for a while just had little peeks here and there. i have been doing the same mate , just plodding around the garden getting the seasons herbs and veges in on time . i did manage to get the roof on the wfo and so far i am a happy wfo enthusiest , the heat stays in well after the fires gone out and it doesnt take long to heat up . i started to do a bit of outer deco on the oven and i''ll try and add it in the pic's section.
see what happens when some one gets the wfo bug , your mate , he'll be rapped to get we we are and just cook away as much as he wants so look forward to watching is progress.
I got my hands on a buttane weed wand from the hardware to start the fires in the oven and it is about 1 metre long , almost! it has a long stem and the can just twists on so i can light up right at the back, very handy..

So you gone across to the dark side along with OscarA and got one of those weed melting gas weapons as well.... yes saw that clip as well and yes it did appeal to the pyro in me...but I been good and didn't by one.. the wife id kill me...I'm still in trouble for buying the infared thermometer.

                Good to hear from you

A length of pipe is great cheap tool to help starting the fire, maintaining flame and clearing the floor of ash. I use a piece of 8mm stainless pipe, but 12.5 mm copper works ok and is more accessible. Blow don't suck.
