Lol. I just couldn't pass this up. It's a 2" slab 3'x7' and it has great veining, with a very unique formation right in the center...it looks like a galaxy. My wife actually found it while I was in another part of the quarry...she does have a great eye. It's a beautiful piece, and looks stunning as it is...and it's not even polished yet! I'll be doing that, and some kind of edge treatment. Our relocation plans have changed, and since we are staying the slab replaced the crete. Can't wait to get the footing in, this is going to be a masonry cabinet with a stone veneer.

I've got 23 SM plants in the garden today, along with some essential wfo herbs --purple and sweet basil...peppers - Habs, japs red Thai, eggplant, collards kale...a few other things.

No garlic, only because it's easy to get good stuff.

Try this for your deer problem....

String fishing line across entry points the deer use to your garden, and attach some tags along the line so you can see it. Painters tape works too. Then take dryer sheets and place them here and there. What happens is the smell of the sheets screws up their sense of smell, and when that happens they are really nervous. The fishing line freaks them out when the walk into it, because they can't see it.

These techniques worked wonders at our home in CT, were we had 4 acres backed up by hundreds of acres of forest. Never had deer trouble after that.

Also just about finished the roof today...got sidetracked with a NY strip and a cocktail, so now it's time to enjoy the lake breezes and the shade on our patio....tomorrow's another day.

The roof looks really good! But,.............. take this from someone who hales as being from carpenter stock. If you add one more row, which will have to be cut to fit, and then a ridgecap, It will look Great!

I linked this stolen pic as an example

Gulf, thanks. I am familiar with that finish, but that isn't what I'm doing on this roof.

You might have missed the granite ridge caps I had dry laid on the roof in previous pictures....an example is on post #351. The caps are going to rest on top of granite base plates, which have yet to be fabricated, and those that will run along the ridge. Before all that, I am running a strip of lead counter flashing the top, to cover the last nails on the final course.

Whenever that is! Actually, I may be able to get a few of the base plates made up tomorrow night. I really want to wrap this up so I can get going on that counter top and cabinet.

Stonecutter, finally had a little time to go though your build. Like everyone else has already said, outstanding workmanship. The part that really make me appreciate your build is how you have the foresight to vision how every item compliments the other. Great job!!!!
