    Thanks for the complement Cdubs.
    They are the genuine article and are well protected, or as well as well as can be expected under the patio roof. I have always believed and live by the belief that you always do your best job and use the right materials and reap the benefits of your labors.
    I still need to finish the floor, if and when I find the style of tile I want, as used 60-100 years ago in Australian Federation house verandas, quite ornate and colourful.
    I also need to make some PVC blinds to stop serious rain spray from entering the area and also put in a couple of gas heaters on the wall. A wide screen LED screen is also planned when I find the time to sit back and put my feet up.
    Anyway, I hope it gives you and fellow members ideas and appreciation of what can be done to enhance the Pompeii ovens to get the most out of them.

    I love what you have done Neill. I don't think I have ever seen anyone put cabinetry like that outside. Great job!!

    Hi Neill - Glad to hear you are still hard at it. I like the ovehang.

    So far so good - my oven is holding up. I had a small leak round the chimney but a bit of chimney caulk put that right. I had a mate from the UK over last weekend and we made several pies. Was really nice to have a somewhat warm night in the tail end of winter here.

    Hi Gary, and welcome aboard this forum.
    I have had much pleasure and a wealth of help and information since joining and try to hand on useful information and advice.
    Whee abouts do you reside as I am keeping a documented list of the Aussie members?
    My Pompeii is a 40" and I feel ideal for my needs as I can cook up to 5 pizzas at a time, (with what I might add, a keen hand and eye as they cook in around 1 to 2 minutes).
    What I also like is it's ability, with an extra shelf added within the oven, can heat food for up to 80 people as we have had on a couple of occasions, and also can cook huge roasts where the domestic ovens fall way short.

    I have noticed your mixing machine in some of your posts, any hints to models, size ect, most times I batch up enough dough for 12-16 pizzas, any info would be great,
    Yes, i still have the 2 commercial mixers which are really very extravagant but also a bit of waste as they rarely get any use.
    The most that I have made is 60 pizzas and I make 8 pizza balls from a kilo of proofed dough, so 6 kg is only 2 mixes in either of the mixers.
    The cream Hobart was sourced from a local second hand dealer, broken but only $50. A couple of welds, a couple of new paddles and dough hook, and a day stripping the paint and respraying it bought it back to new condition and a very desirable heavy duty robust device. The other one is now unused, awaiting a new home, in as new condition and absolutely no faults nor problems. Just a victim of an opportunity too good to resist.
    As you ate aware, mixing dough is really quite strenuous as the wife almost forbid me using her beloved Kenwood Chef which almost destroyed itself mixing a 2kg mix, hence an overkill with a commercial mixer, but I must admit absolutely no regrets. Either one will outlast me and my decendants!
    You can do a search on mixers within this forum, there are a lot of posts and differing opinions.. You can then form your own opinion.

    Hi Neill,
    I have been reading your informative posts with much interest, you have completed a fine job on your oven and outdoor kitchen, I "bull bored" in and built a oven, before I found this forum, I built the "better homes and garden" model, It works great, however, I am not completely happy with it, Size is a issue, not quite enough room to cook two at a time properly, might one day upgrade to a Pompeiii,
    I have noticed your mixing machine in some of your posts, any hints to models, size ect, most times I batch up enough dough for 12-16 pizzas, any info would be great,

    I guess I need to ask Santa for a welder next year....A welder seems to make things easy to fix
    I have 2 stick (arc) and 2 MIG welders. My son just bought a Tig/mig and plasma cutter which will add to the welding ability to include aluminium and stainless steel.
    Welders are an invaluable tool (especially for me( as I am currently building an enclosed trailer for a client and have always got jobs for them
    The rental on the gas bottles is a killer, but necessary if you want to do the jobs.

    Looks like a massive project, I hope you have lots of help.
    The only help that i needed was to carry the frames around the back through an arched doorway and to stand them upright. Everything els was done by me as it is a one man's task.
    I can always ask for help if needed from a neighbour, a son not far away or wait till the weekends when the rest of the family gather for the traditional get together.
    If you plan your jobs, it is surprising what you can achieve single handedly.

    Enjoyed looking at this thread from start to finish. I always tell my friends, who note the number of projects I have in the works, that it keeps me out of trouble and is cheaper than chasing women

    The other day when I had friends over for a pizza feast, I noticed that the outside of the dome was relatively hot and established that it was the moisture escaping from the oven that had been thoroughly wet with rainwater falling directly onto the oven from the patio roof. It had never got warm before, let alone hot, so out with the welder, extend the beams, weld on a couple of perlins and clad it with some polycarbonate that was left over from a local job.
    The only cost was the paint as I had run out.
    All that is remaining (that I can think of at the present) is to find suitable terracotta and tessilated tiles for the floor.

    Razbarb,
    I now have a lot less time to do the jobs that I want to do for myself, such as the floor tiling of the outdoor kitchen. I took a package from Tafesa and now have a 7 day a week home handyman business which keeps me going up to 10 hours a day. Guess I will get to it once I find suitable tiles and re-set the priorities.
    It works an absolute treat to, had 20 people the other week making around 50 pizzas, without any mess at all inside. Everything and I mean everything is now done outside.

    Neil, I was wondering where you disappeared to, looked up your thread and realized I completely missed your last pics of your kitchen, which looks absolutely wonderful!
    I hope that terrifying 'to-do' list hasn't completely done you in and can't help wondering how that huge mid-March party turned out (or did I miss a post about that too)?

    Jim,

    Any time you want to come and stay a while. There's always a spare bed and car for getting out and about.
    It would be great to share the resource with others of similar interests and i am always prepared to learn.
    You might find it a bit different from your climate at present.
    An Adelaide newsreader was over in Washington for Obama's inauguration last week at -14˚F only to return here this week to 43.2˚C today it is forecast to over 40 all week, so you would need to bring your swimming trunks.
