Re: 52 inch mobile brick oven in moving van
based on what I have learned from about 6 builds I have been involved in, (including my first mobile design) I am hoping for a high heat (900+)..fast recovery floor, and fast reflection from dome. I don't need retention, but expect to loose half the temp over night.

Do you expect it to perform much differently? That may need to be an open ended question that will need to wait for the completion and subsequent use...

Re: 52 inch mobile brick oven in moving van
Carl, you are correct, the big oven at my shop is a modified "low-dome" profile with plenty of buttress from it's stationary platform. This mobile oven requires a bit more durability and I chose a spherical dome for it's strength. The radius is; 25 1/4" and the pivot point is 1 3/8" below the center of the brick to make the sphere set properly on the soldier course.

Re: 52 inch mobile brick oven in moving van
It seems like you are going for a much higher dome in this mobile unit compared to your stationary oven. Am I under the wrong impression or is that the case? If you are going higher, care to comment on why? Thanks.
Carl

Re: 52 inch mobile brick oven in moving van
luan is working well for the lathe, and I discovered that I don't have to staple both ends, simply the middle and the lathe has enough "spring" to hold the bricks in place. After all, they don't need that much help at these lower chains.
But luan splinters are bad, so I keep tweezers nearby!

There is a lot to like about an IT. Just my opinion.
