What???? This is a forum for discussion right? The op wanted to have discussions about home brew concrete and cast in place concrete in this thread.

I didn't ask how to do this technique, I asked if anyone has ever done it before. I don't remember saying I know it all either.

I saw Gulfs thread after I posted the question.

I have this one in corded and 18v battery

            It worked well.

Another tip I got from another forum was to use a hot glue gun to build my forms...no screws. I said no way..it won't hold. I tried it on a test slab and also hot glued bracing on the sides. Needless to say, I don't screw forms together anymore....and they last longer than before.

Looking forward to your pics Stonecutter,
I'll pass on David's vibrator comment . I'm very interested in any of the press methods and veining techniques that are out there. Your stonework is pure craftmanship .

This was my second attempt (first was a small test slab 26"x30")and first paying job doing this kind of concrete. I got interested in it because of the design possibility's and how you can make concrete look similar to stone with this method. This was for a fireplace hearth. it was 8'-6 total length and 26" at the center.

Here are some shots of the slabs after they were unmolded.

The color is charcoal and the veining is pewter. I created the 1/2" with a wet profiler that is typically used in stone counter fabrication...I use it for pool coping or other custom things. I am inexperienced with adding profiles to moulds, plus.. I knew I could get a nice clean edge with the profiler.

That is perfect for accepting a contrasting color. My wife would love that for her kitchen counters. She insists that, that is next on my list . After the new cabinet makeover, repainting and then the floors......I may have miised something on the list, it is is long and distinguished .
