Thanks, you really helped me through this. Currently looking at options to create vent to chimney transition. Hope to be able to work it out tomorrow. Bruce

You might even consider a clay flue. The duravent or selkirt are really spendy. I am not sure how high you need to go but a clay flue is cheaper and if you do not need to go too high. Mark 1 or Mark 2, if it works, why not.
I want to keep options open, I picked up the adapter plate used for $22 including shipping. My thoughts at the moment are to set up the vent up to the plate. At that point get the dome insulation completed and either stucco or start curing the oven. I think to do this I need to switch from whole bricks to 1" slices to span the upper arch. I can see a couple ways to get through this, suggestions appreciated or I can learn from my own false starts.

Whatever works....it's the end result that matters most.

Russell, I believe you used a duravent flue. I have an 8" adapter plate and need to work out smoke chamber and mounting the plate. Any thoughts on a simple layout (I recall yours as being fairly intricate)? Bruce

Thanks Russell, I really got the urge to finish after completing the inner arch. It felt like things were downhill from there. Bruce

    Here's looking at you.

it won't be long and you'll be cooking five-star restaurant meals in your oven non-stop. it will make the food on your trip out west (which i also followed with great jealousy) seem like run of the mill diner food.
best of luck on your flue and entry.

Thanks for the comments. I read through your current thread, very interesting approach. Look forward to watching as you go along. Pay attention to stonecutter's instructions for designing an arch. Haven't mastered it but I wish I had learned these lessons before the working on the inner arch. Let me know if I can help. Good luck with the build. Bruce
