Re: Ev's 42" Pompeii in Lancaster Co., Pa.
It's been a few days since I put the 3/4-1" cladding on the dome and finished the vent. I think I'll start building a few small paper fires this week to get a head start on curing. I'll be away all next week, so I'll probably just wrap it in a tarp til I get back. Then I can insulate and start the curing process in earnest.Build Thread, http://www.fornobravo.com/forum/f8/e...-pa-13750.html

Tight! I like the vent. Deeper than most.....cleverly designed.

Re: Ev's 42" Pompeii in Lancaster Co., Pa.
I completed my oven yesterday, functionally speaking. There's 2" of FB blanket on the lower half of the dome and 3" on the top, all covered with at least 3" of vermicrete. After I'm sure it's completely dry and cured I'll add a layer of stucco and a sealer to get it through the winter. I'm out of spending money now so I'll have to wait til spring to build the enclosure and the bottom stone-face.

Well, here it is "next year", so I thought I would give an update on my oven. It's not yet complete but I've been making good progress. Here are some photos documenting said progress. To start, I removed the temporary clay chimney and installed a 8" Duratech, including a cast refractory manifold. I then framed the enclosure using 20 ga. steel studs, covered with 1/2" Durorock cement board, which will then be stuccoed over. Included are some photos of some cool old cast iron decorative pieces I intent to use.Build Thread, http://www.fornobravo.com/forum/f8/e...-pa-13750.html

Yes actually, I believe there are quite a few available. They belong to a woodcarver friend who has a once a week market stand. I see him every Tuesday. If you'd like, I could ask if he'd like to give you his contact info. These things are pretty heavy though. Shipping to Ct. could be excessive.Build Thread, http://www.fornobravo.com/forum/f8/e...-pa-13750.html

You oven looks good, i'm about to start the dome this weekend on mine and I am thinking i'm going to not fill the gaps with mortar till then end like you did. Did that work out pretty well for you or would you just fill them as you go if you had to do it over again?

Hi Evet,
We would like to get the information for those great looking pieces. My cousin lives in Bethlehem Pa. and we would go down for a visit or he could pick them up for us and bring on our pizza throw down!
Thanks in Advance
John
