      Hi George...congradulations!
I love the color, I think it's doing exactly what you want it to do. It's a nice warm color and quite Italian if not entirely Mediterranean. The dome look is becomming more attractive to me. I like the smaller footprint it "appears" to have over the enclosed structures. I'm still sketching my oven in my head and on paper.
QUESTION: How is the vent draw? I'm looking at everyones vent opening and transition to a 8" duratec and wondering how yours is working?
      Again, great job! Thanks, Dino

From the looks of the front brick work, it must be awesome!

Great job George, you definitely must feel a sense of accomplishment. Also, all that oak in the background makes me jealous - all we have is pine and sage brush

Frances, Dave... No, I'm not finished with the stand. That will eventually be incorporated into a BBQ/bar. Once I find a decent grill, the entire area will get finished at the same time. Tile floor and I'm thinking veneered stone on the walls of the oven base and BBQ. Possibly polished concrete for countertops. Still a little work left to do, huh?

            Thanks for the nice comments.

Thanks Dino, Dave got fooled by my cleaning up the bricks after the stucco work yesterday. I still get some smoke out the front, especially when the fire's not burning hot. I had to get inside the entryway and grind out my vent opening inside the arch to get better draw. If you go back to around page 15 - 20 of this tread, you can see my pics of the vent opening. It wasn't wide enough side to side. The grinding improved the situation greatly.

                RC,
I figured my neighbors would freak when they saw the color of the dome. Similar to having someone park a pink building in the middle of down town.
The rough surface finish helped a bunch. When I first put the stucco on, it was shiny and had tool marks all over it. It was really really pink while it was wet.

                  Les,
Apple, not oak. Not a day goes by that I don't think about hacking off one of those big limbs and chopping it up for firewood. I've got two picked out. I didn't prune them this year. I figured I'd give them a couple of years to grow some new wood, then sharpen my axe.

Aren't there varies stages of being FINISHED? We've built our house and have been in it over two years and I'm still finishing those stages.

I'm thinking that there may be many additions to the backyard as items are Finished on the WFO. I'm just glad that I might be starting my fires Sunday (may be rainy though, we need the moisture ) So it that respect I've finished at least one, or two, or more stages.

Thanks Robert. Looks like it's going to get paint. There's hairline cracks in the stucco so in order to assure its watertight, I'm going to hit it with latex paint too. What do you think? Fuschia?? Mauve??

RC - you got it right bud! Done, but not complete. I will never be done working around here. There is no just mowing the lawn and going back inside. I hate sitting on my butt watching the tube. What a waste of time.

Les - moss is kind of like a family pet in the NW. You just trim 'em back every year. It comes back without even calling for it.

I've been pressure washing for the past three days. Moss and algea on everything, especially in the shade. There are actual ferns growing on the limbs of those 70 or so year old apple trees. NW gardens/yards are kind of a rain forest in-check. Let them go for awhile and they quickly become jungles.

                            Variations on a theme....

As I mentioned, there was some small cracks in the pink stucco that I wanted to make sure were completely waterproof. I looked at color swatches for days and finally picked tomato bisque at Lowes. Once I got it on the oven, all I could think was yuk! Looks like half a pumpkin! Back to Lowes - again!

OK, I'm sticking with this last one - called something something red clay I think. Looks like terra cotta to me. I can live with it. I wasn't careful at all painting around the base. I laid it on really thick down there to keep standing rain water out. Someday tile, or something else will cover that ugliness. Good enough for now.

Pizza lunch with Broken Cookie tomorrow. He's coming down to pick up some of my left over materials. What better reason could there be for firing up the oven? Hope I don't burn 'em too bad.

Very, very nice. The polished concrete came out great.

Maybe you could put a glaze on it for some old world charm.
