Great work Dusty! Congrats. Your dome went up quick, huh? I can't remember, is your entryway completed?

Re: dusty dome is 4" tall
I have been working on the oven a bit, but with the holidays and everything else, I just haven't found much time to sit at the computer (or anywhere else!). Fact is, I'm almost done. I finished course 12 or 13 (lost count) today and I am half way done with the final course - then the keystone and wa la!Originally posted by Kemo View Post
Any updates here or are you done till after Christmas?
I'll try to get some photos.
Happy holidays everyone

Be nice Jimmy. Also, that's bullshit!!Originally posted by james View PostAnother oven takes flight. Congratulations.
Still, I have a question -- how do you cook pizza in a 4" high oven. :-)
Dave, I have given into the dark side -- embrace your cracks.
James
"Given in to the Dark Side" .hahaha. And so are your mates in what is currently 'on the Dark Side', (astronomically speaking, naturally), so much more gullible than we 'Down Unders'? I think not.
As to your question re 4" oven.
Mate, you crouch down, and work both quickly and deftly. [Comes easy with practice].
Strewth. And here's me thinking I'm coming to the pinnacle of earth cooking ..
Jeff.

Re: dusty dome is 4" tall
Sorry Dusty, I left your number behind. I had the moment to spare and decided to jet down there to do it. I looked at what I needed to do, especially with this being storm week. I was telling JC Jim that my tent is a tight fit for me when working on the oven. I have been cutting and placing the solder course, as well as the arch wall row one. Almost done with that part. I will likely mortar them Friday. I really want to get the arch wall and solder done by this weekend. If I can get that done, I would like to get courses 2-4 next week.

Yea, I'm in there. Probably the last time. The bricks are safe once I'm inside, but getting in and out without knocking down a brick or five is a real chalenge.Originally posted by RTflorida View PostAlmost! Almost!! ALMOST!!!
Nice work Dusty, are you actually inside the dome in that pic? Or are you leaning over from the other side? If you are inside, if that were me, it would be back to 4" high - from me knocking it all down from climbing out.

Re: dusty dome is 4" tall
Dusty, I am so very happy seeing the dome just about complete. Do you believe you will have the dome done during the week? That would have you curing right after Christmas. Get the extra paper, twigs, small, repeat, small logs for the oven curing process....and be PATIENT. 100 to 800. Those bricks I picked up Friday were perfect.

Re: dusty dome is 4" tall
Ended up being a productive day, even though I wasn't able to start until after 1 o'clock. I am 1/3 through with course 12. Using new method. I cut, fit, then set three or four bricks at a time.
I have moved my saw AND Mr. Heater into the oven house. Very cozy in there now.
Everything going smooth. Didn't get ant pictures, but my son kyle did.
23 1/2" Tall and I am now only slightly smaller than the hole in the top!

Man, I am going blind. I thought, at first, you wrote "finishing".Originally posted by Acoma View PostAnd fishing?
Yes, I did go out Wed. night. Never saw a fish. Nothin'. Not even any other fisherman. Bad sign. That may be it for me this season.
