  • Fireclay Mixture

Cannot find Mason Sand in my area (Lexington NC). I can find Lots of Sakrete Multi purpose sand. Can I use that mixed with my fireclay for my firebrick floor bedding?
Also I understand the ratio is 1 to 1 for the bedding

If it is all you can source, multipurpose sand can work for a wood fired oven. The one thing I would NOT use it for is for a concrete mix. For a concrete mix I'd want a sharp sand. For a thin leveling bed, or for homebrew mortar for your dome, it'll work in a pinch.

Any sand will do, you just don’t want large grains that might interfere with the levelling. You can always sieve out any large grains.
