Re: Bill's Northwest Pizza Oven
Looks like a mighty fine oven to me Bill. I love the contrast of the arch and finish brick. Doesn't matter how good the food will be - it's what it came out of.

Re: Bill's Northwest Pizza Oven
A little progress due to perfect weather.
Added a shelf the other day and have been able to puzzle together almost three sides of the rock exterior. Traveling this week but will hopefully finish with the rock next week.2 Photos

Thanks Dino. Realize that much of the process has developed through lack of planning and foresight. There must be a life lesson here somewhere...
Your oven looks great. Pizza soon!

Re: Bill's Northwest Pizza Oven
Bill, your oven is looking really good. I love the stone shelf brackets. Smart idea of epoxying them to metal fins. Keep that nose of yours in your wine goblet, it's sparking some pretty nifty ideas. Used golf clubs for moving stuff around in the oven, that's and idea I'll copy too. Keep up the fine work. -Dino

Re: Bill's Northwest Pizza Oven
Finally got some shelf supports up. The four fins were welded to the metal frame. I cut some slits in some appropriate pieces of quartzite and epoxied them to the metal fins. I'll then rock around these. Haven't figured out what the shelf will be - tile, poured or .... We'll see what the next glass of wine comes up with...2 Photos

Re: Bill's Northwest Pizza Oven
Hi Scott,
I'll keep taking pictures as long as there's progress....
One of the forum members suggested going to Goodwill to find terracota pots, steel plates for frying, cast iron, etc. It was the place to go. I also picked up an all steel 2 iron golf club for moving pots. the grill and logs around in the oven. Closest I've ever got to golfing.
Enjoy the process!

Re: Bill's Northwest Pizza Oven
Bill,
I just finished reading your thread. It is like finishing a good book. The oven looks great, and please posts some pics of the finished product. That is, if you have time in between cooking.I am doing something similar and would like to see the finished product.
Also, where did you get that terracotta pot with the high sides? I am going to need some cookware like this. Thanks in advance.

Re: Bill's Northwest Pizza Oven
Thanks Dino. I used tap cons to connect the base plate to the cement pad. Had the same question and Les had the answer... as usual.
Stone will go all the way to the top and there will be some sort of shelf across the front.
You're almost ready to cook. Looks great.

Re: Bill's Northwest Pizza Oven
Bill, nice look with stone exterior. It looks really cool. I assume you are going to go all the way up with the stone as opposed to stopping at the "waist" and changing materials as some do?
BTW: I was looking over your steel stud framing pics and I'd like to know how you fastened your steel base plate to the cement oven base. (or is that part of your oven base something else besides concrete & block?) Thanks, Dino

Thanks Mike and Mark.
Most of the framing was copied from other builders on this site. Extremely helpful!
As to the wine - I am so open to all of it....

Bill,
I couldn't agree with you more. Once I started cooking it just wasn't as urgent to work as hard on finishing it. The procrastinator in me! I've got a few things done but still have to do my stone veneer also. The cooking has been as fun as the building. Your stone looks really good. Keep going!

Bill's in the Northwest. Must have been some elegant Pinot Noir from Willamette Valley.
I, too, just went through your thread and photo blog. Thanks for posting the detailed photos of the framework. Looks great. It's been bookmarked and will be referenced frequently.

Re: Bill's Northwest Pizza Oven
Hey,Bill
The rock exterior and the pizza oven look great! More importantly it looks like your having a blast with your oven. I just went through all your photos and they were all great to look at, Thank You. All those dishes look amazing, although you forgot to mention which kind of wine goes with which dish?
