  • full or half bricks

Im building a pizza oven and following the process that is spelled out on these forums - cinder block base, 3.5 inch of rebar supported concrete with 2" of FB insulation board, toped with fire brick. Unfortunately, I was only to find half bricks locally and wondering if they will carry enough thermal mass?

G'day. When you say half brick, I assume you mean half thickness? How thick are you talking?

Sorry for not being more specific. Yes, half thickness at 1 1/4 inches. I'm hoping they have enough thermal mass. If not, what do you think might be the minimal brick thickness or a possible alternative?

1.25" thick are know as splits, In order to have enough thermal mass in the floor you will need to do a double layer of splits.
