Have you checked out the "Show us your door" thread (linked below)? Many different styles that might give you some ideas. Also maybe post a picture of your door so we can see what you want to cut off and possibly how replacement handles might be attached.
I use MS Paint to resize my pics. There are fancier programs out there, but if you are running windows you already have paint. I just click the "resize" button and select pixels. Set the smaller number to 1080 and you will get smaller pics that still have good resolution. Just use the "save as" option so you don't over write your hi-res photos unless you don't want the masters anymore.
As far as handles go, you are probably going to want to incorporate either some wood or try the wound spring type used on wood stove doors. My handles are wood and I never need gloves, but I do need to make sure the backs of my fingers don't touch the door skin
Those are great - have them on both my doors. I can't see the back of his door but it looks like he might be stuck with a welded solution.
The handle is welded on mine. I think a diamond blade followed by a grinder to touch up the welds will make it flush again. This will give me the opportunity to drill a few holes for a new handle.
I wonder if you can wrap the handles with leather. This way you can keep what you have and not have to take anything apart
There is also food grade silicon that you can form up your existing handles and pour the silicone and create a thick coaring that is oven safe. Smooth-sil is one product but there are more out there.
I wonder if you can wrap the handles with leather or some type of material. Maybe thin sheet of ceramic blanket to insulate it and leather strips over the top of it or just the leather strips a few layers of it. This way you can keep what you have and not have to take anything apart
