Re: My Cast Refractory Oven Build

It depends on the manufacturer, but typically between 2 and 2.75 inches. It sounds like a ring of bricks underneath your walls would put it at exactly the right height.

Yeah a ring of fire bricks sounds like the way to go.

Fill the gaps with some of your castable.

If you don't have many to cut a diamond blade on an angle grinder will suffice.

Boy I wish we could buy the stuff here for that price. We pay more than double that here.

hey guys, sorry i haven't checked in for a while, it has been raining cats and dogs here for the last 3 weeks straight and I haven't been able to take out the dome from under the carport.

I got the castable from WESCO in Mansfield TX (Forth Worth area)
                      here is their website link.
                      Castables

they are super friendly and very helpful, i had a ton of questions for them and they took the time for me.

they also can UPS the bags for ya since they are 50lb sacks.

I have all my bricks and mixes ready to go...it just has to stop raining.

My back has recuperated from last time i moved this thing. I find that my engine hoist is making life alot easier.
We have been swamped with rain for the last month or so, I'm talking daily monsoons!.
now it is chilly and the sky is clear, perfect weather for lighting up an oven
