Thanks gang, I cannot take credit for the concept, I saw it done by another builder, Larry out of Chicago so I plagiarized his copper shingle design.

Collin, yes I did seal the stucco. I may even accelerate the patina with a little ammonia and baking soda, fairly benign stuff.

Amac, the copper taps are screwed into the stucco with SS screws, I predrill the holes but a rawl plug is not necessary since the screws really grip well unless I over size the hole. I am going to do some type of copper sleeve over my SS chimney since I like how yours look. I have some design ideas but I will surprise you guys.

Very nice indeed. Shows the thought involved. This will be very special. Would not have expected anything less.

Very nice Russell - I hope it's not copyright! Are the small tabs screwed in under the folds and do you use rawl plugs?

This is going to be one of the most elegant domes on the forum. Very nice job.

That'll look cool when it's done....like copper scales.

I will give the score and brake technique a try. Using 16 oz copper or abt 23 mils.

Got the copper starter strip fasten to the dome. Used trim head SS screws so not to react with the copper. SS just does not have the torque strength, twisted the heads off several screws. Worked on forming the first set of 1/2 and full diamond shingles today. Slow process, like the starter strip. But expecting the others will faster to build as I get the process down.

Don't know about copper, but aluminum cuts very nicely using a utility knife and your brake. Score along the jaws of the brake, bend up--when you pull down on the metal, it should snap off nicely...always straight cuts--that is if your brake is straight. That is how we always cut aluminum coil when doing trim work. Copper should be the same--but might have to score more than once.

After a bunch of searching, I was able to find San Maranzo seeds locally, got a very late start planting them and they are still quite small. Hope for great things from them--at least that is what everyone else raves about. We'll see!
No pictures yet either, don't have a good enough close-up lens.

Good to see that you started on the copper cladding. I've been busy putting a metal roof on my woodshed/oven structure. Today painting the siding.

How is the copper coming along? The first course looks great, can't wait to see it progress.

Tomatoes are great, but the copper is extra cool.

Nothing fancy, just some Stanley straight cut.
