Hello and welcome back Russell, hope that life has been treating you well.
The Japan strain of tomatoes are bust this year...way too much rain! What little was produced rotted on the vine before ripening.
Finally put a coat of stucco on the oven, but everything else is at a stand still.
    Good to see you back!

    Hi guys,

It has been awhile since I posted and with much encouragement and arm twisting from Gulf I am going to ease my way back into the forum. I have been peeking at the builds that have been going on and the latest generation (maybe I call them the millennial builders) are looking good. I finally did complete the finish work on the oven this year which was started in 2011. Here is pic for the final product sans the paver work around the patio.

I would love to know how it is cooking.
What's going on in there....that is where the gold is.

If he designed something that nice, I can guarantee the food is worth looking at

    lol

I found a new pic on Russell's Picasso Web Album.

He has added some great! looking stonework to his stand. And, the patina for the copper is just starting to develop. I would love to see some frontal pics of it also.

I now officially dub this build as the "Copper Dragon". If Russell wants to change that, I hope he checks back in and corrects me .

PS: to Annie M. (in the blind) I really would love to have your recipe for apple galette. I tried it with with apples and peaches. It was good but, I did not get the crust just right. I would love to try it with blueberries. Please, and pretty please!

Of course! I would never leave you guys out! You Rock and have already helped me a ton! Hopefully I can document well and not get too carried away. I want to set up my camera and start a time lapse of the build... I thought that would be cool.

There's plenty of us to help out where we can. Just ask.

Yeah that is a very sad story. I talked to him today and he put it much more plainly. In his words "I am taking a Hacienda from FB." Its definitely too bad. His build and posts were always a reference for me but now I guess I'll just call him when I have ?'s. Thanks for the update Gianni. I've been out of the scene for a little bit for the winter but am getting back in to the swing of things now and will be adding a bunch of things to my thread tomorrow.

Russell's valuable contributions didn't mysteriously disappear. He painstakingly deleted them (over 1,000) then excused himself from a stream of ignorant comments from a poster (Huskerduck) who failed to understand that this site is about building wood-fired ovens, not race or an emerging economy's product quality.

Following a token ban and a handful of arrows, Fuskerhuck then excused himself, but the real losers are the current and future builders who would certainly have learned from Russell's insight and willingness to share.
