Installed the roof cap yesterday. Now on to the soffits. I wish that I'd installed the soffits last year. I discovered this while I was using the hammer drill to screw on the roof cap, when all of the wasps started coming out! I then had to be careful about spraying, as my honeybee hives are about 75 feet outside of my fence.
Ughh...unintended consequences. The bees are really prolific here this year. It's Probably due to the cold weather lasting so long. The wasps are controllable...it's the hornet and yellow jacket nests that'll get ya.
FYI--Amazon has Caputo Tipo 00 qty 10 for 33.11 including shipping for prime members. For those who use alot of it, there's a 55lb bag that equates to 31.03 for 10 bags, even though you pay for shipping.

I use Dawn dishwashing detergent and a kid's super soaker. Any dishwashing detergent would probably work, but that is what was recomended to me............and I know that it works.
Here is a video of someone doing it with a garden sprayer.
It does not carry with the wind like pesticides. So, unless you aim directly at your bees, they should be ok .

I've been procrastinating by enjoying pizza in the oven, that I just started work on the exterior. The wall is making use of travertine pavers. The front brickwork will form an arch over the wood storage area. The upper section will be stucco.
Nice. I did the same thing as you and built an arch in the wood storage area out of brick. I had to do some fancy cutting on the back of the bricks to make them fit into the shape of the opening
Thanks, wow, that's definitely more intricate. I have a substantial overhang, so mine is going to go right on the front surface. I like the way you anchored the arch. Mine is patterning Ken Hoke in "My Old Kentucky Dome" https://picasaweb.google.com/1182955...36619146698882
Thanks! Wow, that cutting represents alot of work. I have a substantial overhang, so mine will be easier on me. I like the way you anchored the arch, revealing part of the vertical bricks. I'm patterning mine after Ken Hoke in his "Old Kentucky Dome".
Thanks! Mine will not nearly be as difficult as the work that you did on yours. I have a substantial overhang, so mine will all go on the front face. I like our the way you anchored your arch. I'm tying in mine in just a slightly different fashion. I've linked a pic of Ken Hoke's below.
I just went through most of the pages and pics of your build. Great job! Things looked very well thought out and built! I'm impressed. I enjoyed viewing your process. Thank you for sharing!
