Everything looks great so far. Really like the future prep area on one side and the grill/fireplace on the other. Can't wait to see it done.

Again thanks a lot guys I'm really pleased with how it's turning out and become a design build as I go never really had an overall plan as such.
Dave I'm not doing great for time it's still nice enough at the moment but the cold snap comes fast and hard I'm not putting a deadline too it so il just play it by here and do what I can January Is usually the worst time for us here so as much as I can get done before then the better but like I said one day a week and I have a 2 year old little girl to keep happy to plus I never ask anyone for help do it all solo!

Lee - I'm glad to see a corner installation like yours as I'm interested in how you will finish it with all those angles. I'm debating whether I should put mine in a corner as well so I'm very interested in this build. Looks like you cut those bricks at an angle. I'm worried that the cut side will have a different texture than the finished side. How are you finding this on your bricks?
            Thx.

Hi there bigmaq thanks for you interest the corner bricks are pre made squint bricks off the shelf I was going to cut and glue the feature bricks my self but it was just easier to by the red ones to match the bottom 2 course plus the toothed in effect is a bit of a feature il upload a pick of the squint bricks for you they are perfect 45 degree angle

Like I said if you wanted to use just the same brick right through you can make these your self using 2 bricks and some good form of resin 2 nice plum mitre cuts glued together and clamped up fine if you only need a few as they take time cutting cleaning drying and setting and if you don't them plum they twist or don't meet up with the other bricks hope this help

hi all managed to get the floor finnished with the heat break i used 50mm flat rope and a thin piece of stainless all pressed against the the brick face leaving a slight gap, also cut some bricks for the chimney vent as you can see in the photo its a little upside down in there tappering the wrong way i realy hope this isnt a problem getting rid of the smoke and it al coming out the front Click image for larger version

i couldnt lay the bricks as my fondue cement has past its day is there any other mix i could use for them its only going to be 1 more cousre on top of them and for the flue i have plenty of grog left over but another bag of fodue is going to 34 pound and il only use a cup full ?.
ive also filled behind the face brick over the arch to recive the outer dome arch im going to put a piece of flat stainless across the entrance aswell a little bellow the top of the floor brick down covering the calsil board and verm layer i think cobbler dave once metioned it for a water barrier it should also help against the counter top

ID:	306130 got the fire place / bbq up a little higher too started the corbeling for grill racks and ash pan can just see them in the pic my idea for the fireplace design is an arched top like a barrel with a lower steady flatter arch as a mantel would the barrel shape have an effect on the chimney draw would it even work? i would just leave a big enough hole in the top for a chimney Click image for larger version
