Ivan.......if you haven't already done so, I recommend getting some dirt up around the edges of your base slab to help protect it from the frost.

Im really considering stopping my WFO build for now cause winters on its way and would rather strart back up next spring. This gives me a chance to see how my floating slab survives any
      frost heave issues.
I will be however working on my IT and buying my bricks and HB saw and maybe even playing around with different arch mock ups. Also intend on staying connected to this forum and following
      other member builds.

Good to do some mock ups. I wish I would have. I get in too much of a hurry and with little time, I usually try an accomplish too much in one day. What I would do differently from my build is that I would have gone with a cylindrical arch instead of squared off. My saw was not able to cut the bricks appropriately which caused me to go the route that I did. The curved arch is the best design and does not need to be buttressed as a squared off arch needs to be. Plan your flu entry nice and large so that all the smoke enters properly.

I have not stopped cooking in mine and the "New toy" has not lost its luster more than a year later.
Darin I often cook with wine, sometimes I even add it to the food... WC Fields Link to my build http://www.fornobravo.com/forum/f8/4...-ca-20497.html My Picasa Pics https://picasaweb.google.com/1121076...eat=directlink

Novaslo its very obvious that you take great pride in your wfo, the amount of different foods you have been able to cook in your oven is awesome. I also signed up to your cooking site, great job again.
Ncman thanks for the advise on covering up the base slab, I have been busy with my honeys to do list and my projects had to suffer for it, will get right on that asap.
        thanks for looking out guys!

            Ivancito,
Great start! I read that you were in Mass. I am a fellow New Englander in the Portland, Maine area. I too am a bit nervous to see what mother nature is going to do to my oven this winter. I started early enough that I am trying to button things up before the snow flies. I am a landscape contractor. i do a lot of stonework but never vertical brickwork. The extra considerations due to the extreme heat have slowed me down. I just want to get it right the first time. I will be following your progress. Good luck!

Ivancito, I went with 5" of insblok, as with my 39 inch oven I was able to get my dome to fit on 2 boxes worth (I went right up to the edges). The two boxes of board and 3 boxes of insulation totally filled the back of my little Toyota PU. If you decide to get your blanket at the same time make sure your not driving something too small.

Jr is right. It is crazy how much space the stuff takes up. I borrowed a neighbors trailer when I got my insulation as I could only fit 1 box in the back of the jeep I use to have.

                    Ivancito,

I remember seeing your posts last night. I'm missing at least one from yesterday. There was a migration to a new server today. That may be the price we have to pay for a faster forum. (It is much faster this evening) Here is a "shout out" to Mitch fbfireoven.

Take a look at the note, on the main Forum page, from the administrator regarding the change in the file servers. It should answer your question.

                          Ivancito,

Your posts must have been written at just the (wrong) time during the migration and did not save to the thread. The good news is that I have them as emails and can send them to you to post again if you'd like - just let me know. Please let anyone else know that if they have the same issue.

Hi Guys, Getting started again on my WFO and was able to buy 9 boards of INSBLOCK19 for $20. each. More than I needed but now I can double stack and get 5"inches under my cooking floor. I have also been busy calling on masonry suppliers for fire brick prices, found 300 low duty buff bricks at $1.45 each. The red bricks were also available at the same price but I like the buff color. All I need now is the HB saw to go on sale and I can start the floor cuts. Looking forward to hearing from all the members on this great site.
