    Dave,

Put the rectifier down and back away - we have a 12 step program at Dino's house to fix that.

Dino - sorry to hi jack your thread. BTW, the lighting is awesome!
True but if you go to Home Depot and ask for a Transformer-rectifier they will look at you like you just steeped off of Mars. Home Depot sells Low Voltage Outdoor Transformers to convert 115VAC to 12VDC.

I'm running four of them to light our backyard, oven and fish pond. It is very addictive. . .

    Dino,
Awesome as always! Your lobster pie looks so good I want some for breakfast.
I remember reading about your starter. You started your own? With grapes? Have you kept the same starter and if so how often do you feed it?

    Thanks and Happy New Year!
    Tom

    Dino,
What a beautiful oven you have built! I'll bet when you broke ground to start on the foundation you never thought it would turn out this handsome. Honestly, from the photo of your oven warmly lit it looks like a professional job and begs to have something wonderful cooking inside. But with all the detail work you have done, I'll bet you're not truly finished and will find a way to add to it.

I just did a quick survey of my landscape lighting friends and they say low voltage is always DC.

    No prob

But your toothbrush is still AC in regard to the low voltage issue. Awesome technology - there will be a day you set your laptop, toss your phone or Ipod onto the coffee table and all is good in the AM. Kinda like this.

GM invests in Powermat to eliminate power cords in vehicles

Dino - sorry again, but we will get to 50K hits before anyone else.

Sorry about the terminology - it is a power supply or an inverter, depending upon which terminology and application you are looking at. Transformers are for stepping up or stepping down voltage - my bad.

I have an inverter in my truck for when I need to charge my laptop - stupid that I take 12 VDC, convert to 120 VAC then back to 20 VDC

As for the electric toothbrush, like a computer and my flashlight, it is DC. Its why I have various stupid bricks for different applications - why cant we just settle on a couple versus 10 bahjillion?

    Sorry about me causing confusion.

All low voltage stuff is DC - there is a transformer to convert the AC to DC.

Just need to be sure that there is a proper sized fuse as the amperage may be too much!

Dino, I am in awe of your oven - I bow in your general direction. I am getting so many ideas from all the builders here on the site!

The cheap stuff is what I'd be looking at .

I apologize for hijacking your thread Dino, I didn't intend to....A moderator can split this subject into a new thread if you ask him....

Depends - I think most low voltage lighting systems are AC (DC is available) Automobiles use DC..

They are small and fit in nice with the size of the oven and provide PLENTY of light.
    Good luck, Dino

I acid washed my outer arch bricks so they are sparkly and red again. There is nothing left to stucco, so it's done. Technically speaking, I still have to make my side storage door that will match the eaves and real, insulated steel oven door for when I'm baking but those will take a back seat for the summer.
