    Dear Jas
Whats a hundred series besser? never heard the term.
Whats the plan for the Roof of the structure? If you plan to make it a roof make sure you get the same angle as the roof on you house. Why...bet you have seem houses with sheds with a different roof angle... they always look like an add on. Check your local area bet ya find a few now that Ive said it.
Seems the old mind sees but doesn't register why it looks funny.

    regards Dave

PS oven still damp mine is gets hot on the render at the front but not the top and back. Doesn't retain heat like it was Put a piece of plastic in the oven with a few brick on it and at the end of the day....Yep moisture on the underside of the plastic must have a hearth full of water?

Hi dave how you doin? i have bricked in the outer part of the oven and got to build a frame thing for the roof ,i have put up a ply sheet tempory roof for now and it looks good , while doing this i charged up the oven with a big fire , got to some nice coals going then i put a nice chicken in the wfo and that was at 330 pm sunday , very nice. i went out there today and the oven is still nice and warm ,very happy.i also put some insulation under the roof and over the dome , i think that helped .
having a big cook up sat arvo with duck, beef, chook and lamb and some other nice goodies , if only some one else could cook for my 40th , ah well , at least it should taste the way i like it, happy times.

Seen you photo on the top of the forum. Yep your right its huge!!! sorry meant that in the nicest way. Did you fill it up with Pearlite dry??? bet that give you lotsa insulation. Any Ideas on the finish? Any Ideas on the roofing materials? just looked at this I'm full of questions tonight arn't I.
One think though....Ive realized there's all these blokes in Ozz building ovens in the stinking heat so I should expect you to bust a boiler but wait for the cooler months. Reacon the worst job in QLD.... the poor bugger that fits air cons could you imagine crawling around some roof space in the middle of summer dragging trunking and stuff in the heat? Then when the whole things finished an cool you get to leave... sod of a job...
Hav'nt used my oven since Aust day... to hot... collecting wood though in preperation for those cooler mths

                  Regards Cobbler dave
PS tried to get that spele check to work.... couldn't... got this far without it

Hello dave all well here and with this heat and unpredictable brisbane weather i've come to a halt . going to wait for cooler times to continue the wfo, i lasted 15 mins out there and got cooked . was thinking of putting a black tile roof , no idea how just going to do it , i am going to do the research (google ) and track down seconds cos it's best when you get stuck into a project to save some cash.i like those stone tiles that you can get in lengths and maybe some render / stucco then paint ??? still not sure .
i charged up the oven on the bday at 12noon and it did a great job.still hot at 3 pm next day. i put in some batts i got from the dump shop 3 for 15 bucks as a tempory insulator and will fill over the dome with perlite once i;m ready to enclose the roof.
well it did turn out a bit bigger than i expected bit still no regrets , i love it.
i hope its fine on the weekend so we can all fire up the wfo's.
                    happy cooking and stay cool.
                    jas.

                      Dear Jas
Great to hear.... Got a nearly full bag of pearlite thats yours for the asking.
If you need a hand in planning what you'll need to build a roof structure to support a tile roof I can help. I am assuming you structure is basically core filled cement block we could build a pretty good roof on that type of structure that wouldn't blow off in the next storm. I wouldn't go Stucco it's basically a lime based finish over cement block, stick to cemment based products these heaps of very easy to use ones even a bit of the old cement render. Cement render doesn't have to be hard you can do a rough finish like a bagged finish, easy, looks great doesnt cost a bomb either
                      Roll on the cooler wheather!!
Got the damp problem with the oven licked. Everythings sealed now and the only water ingress is possible through the firebrick in the entrance. Just put a little tarp on top of the entrance brick floor....oven stays dry!!!! Looks a damn sight better than a ruddy grat tarp all over the oven. Will think of a more appealing looking solution but for now Its dry and usable

well hi ya dave , that perlite sounds good and i was thinking about how to pick it up ? can you get it to your shop and i swing by and pick it up the parking is easy near you and i can be there most days of the week , just let me know mate.
i see your looking for a thermometer upgrade , i'll be watching this one to see what the members come up with, the one i saw was @230 bucks here in brissy near the rbh hospital in a trade refridgeration shop , now if i could buy that it would be nice but hey thats way too much ...
i havn't cooked much latley but i got this dough starter mix brewing away and going to make some sourdough breads soon .
                        still too hot .
                        happy cooking , jas.

                            Dear jas
That pearlite is yours... I'll chuck in in the ute tonight and put it in the back room tomorrow. I'm at work 7:30 to 4 most days and someone will be there till 6.Not Open Sat or Sun.
Got searching on the net for a infrared thermo and found one from Dick Smiths rated to 540 C (1000 F)... $69!!. usually there $99. Offer was on only till 28/2 so what th heck I brought the thing. Arrived today it a.. simple thing really, point, push the Lazer button and the temp reads were the lazer touchs. The red dot however makes the cat real nervous for some reason...
Rairly make a rash purchase but the things going to give me an idea of temps with the fire in the oven burning . Ive got a thermometer mounted in the oven door but the doors got to be on the oven and the fire out.
Hope this weekends cool and I'll flash the oven up its been to long since Ive done that but I can see it being used a lot more in those cooler months.
If not I'll sharpen the chain saw may as well collect some wood with the council being so busy with work I've noticed a lot of tree falls around the place.

                            Regards Dave
