Hey Colin, it's looking good. You will find it easier once you are above the arch. Anyway, a minor droop will make no difference to the finished oven at all.

I love cooking with wine. Sometimes I even put it in the food.

      Hi Sharkey/David/Russell

Thanks for the compliments couldn't have done this without all the support and great info guys. Yeah the droop as I measured is around 5-10mm. I'm going to finish the course then lay the bricks either side of the arch, one back from the transition. that hopefully will allow me to adjust and work out the right cuts.

But it isn't much and as you point out I it will still work with or without the droop.

Like most cannot wait until I get past this bit, it is really slow going. Didn't help running out of sand.
      Cheers Colin

Hey Colin, I had the same problem with the droop when nearing the top of the arch and found once I cleared the arch the droop seamed to level out with the course's by it self.

Hi found this the other day. What do you think? Not quite what I was after, but guessing free as they are in a sort of a bin

Are they SS or Aluminum? If SS I would at least snag one you can buff it out and it will be pretty. Alot better than $700 for Selkirk from the USA. If aluminum, temperature of the flue gas might be an issue.

Well I managed to get some time on oven today after having to do some work on partners house yesterday.

Finished course 6 [ bar 2 bricks near arch ] and got 2 bricks on the 7 course layed in preparation for a good go at it hopefully next weekend. I also got the last arch brick layed and it was easier than I was foreseeing as deerrrrrr I forgot they are tapered.

For some reason I am finding the bevel angle not consistent and that is proving to make life harder. Seems to change on each brick requiring small adjustments and many trips backwards and forwards. I must be doing something wrong but cannot work it out.

Will post some photos during the week if I get chance in daylight.

Should pass the ARCH with this course but it looks tricky.

Decided tonight [as I was bored also coming down with flu I think] to take out the arch. Was a bit of a trial, as form got caught on some excess mortar [ok dave you did tell me so ] but managed to get the cardboard out and was able to chisel [gently] the mortar dags off and it is now out.

                    It all looks good....
