Sitting here. It's black, throbbing, and I have no wine. Arrrgh
Oh well at lest redoing decorative finish touch I can sit down.

Thinking if I splint my foot I can finish the oven this weekend.
        Or I could rest.

Ouch, hopefully it is just a soft tissue bruise and you just loose a toenail.

OK guys I have a question regarding lighting. Am finding it hard using oven at night and seeing into the dome.

Checking the site out, the latest info on oven lighting dates back to 2012 [shit that's when I started building this thing].

Has anyone got any updates on lighting for the oven would like to install one inside some how probably just in behind the entry arch.

Have googled but not having much luck....

If you're cooking pizzas then you should maintain a flame on the side. This will provide the light. For bread and roasts I use a movable LED light powered by a 12v 12AH battery, for use with my mobile oven. The light is incredibly bright and will last all night on a charge. Or you can set up a permanent 240V aimed at the oven mouth.

                    Thx David.

Pizza as you pointed out isn't the issue. I Have done that I placed 240v flood above opening, but this doesn't help when using residual heat. I need light in the entry pointing into the oven.

I am interested in a 240v high temp permanent solution similar lighting in a normal inside oven. I have searched and searched with no luck so far.
                    Cheers Colin

                      G'day
I've got given a silly looking ball cap with a led light in the brim. Solar charged battery.
The silly thing works well enough I've never bothered to find another thing.
                      Regards Dave

Have found Googlng 'oven lamp assembly' interesting, I wonder if that works with solar.

                          Colin,

If you are able to find a light that can handle the temps of the vent area, can it be kept clean enough with all the smoke and soot? I seen some other builds like Dave who have used a goose neck/ball cap that sits on the outside and points in when you need the light and put away when you don't. BTW how's the digit, broken or not?

I did do some research, but dropped the idea while building my oven. Its not just the bulb and the holder, its also the wiring needs to be heat resistant.

You would need fibre glass insulated wire, or at a minimum silicon rubber coated wire, less then 300 degrees I guess it would be okay. Ceramic bulb holders are available. It really does depend where you put the light(s), in the flue gallery? I would keep out of the oven as its just to hot.

I think 12 volt is okay, 240 volt is just dangerous around the heat of a WFO.

I have a light on a flexible/adjustable lead anchored outside the oven. It has multiple LED's and runs off 3 AAA batteries. It provides plenty of light and since it can be kept out of the way when not in use it does not get stained by smoke.

The batteries last for a couple of months. Sounds a bit like Daves unit.
                              Cheers ......... Steve
