    Fabby, aka Flabby by some,

Like Brickie says, put you best work on the back half, this is really all you can see once you are up and cooking. You can make all your adjustments and corrections of oops on the front half. Continue to stagger your vertical joints. You're on a diet? Tu asked be the other day if I trust a skinny cook?

Just wanted to jump in and say hello. Nice looking build. Don't worry about the Flabby thing...I just got called Mr Virginia. No amount of diet can fix that.

          fabby....a.k.a. "flabby"

remember my nikon camera that was in my pocket and stopped working after cutting some bricks. I used compressed air to clean it up and was able to get it working. Retrieved some pics from above. I contacted american express, the cameral was barely a year old, and Amex extends the warranty for those purchases. They contacted Nikon and apparently this camera has had a lot of failure codes like mine had. They decided to give me full credit back rather than repair. I will be off to buy a new camera today

Buying things using Amex is the best for warranty extension. (Disclaimer: I work for Amex ...............gotcha, just kidding

It has been too cold to work the last couple of days, hopefully it will warm up today as I am home early from work.

Thanks for all the comments. I love this place

Nice progress so far - and terrific news about the camera! I am green with envy over you guys getting to work outside already! It is worth it in the end, and your boys will love having friends for a pizza party, mine sure do!

Some pics of my progress. Another snow storm, unheard for Virginia this time of year, slowed me up. It has been cold and windy and I had brick dust in the ear canal......ouch

I hope to have the dome done this weekend, if the kids will let me work thru their Easter egg hunt.

Actually, I have seen snow late into April in Virginia. Hopefully this is the end of it. I'm done with winter and ready for spring.

Your oven is looking nice. Your at the point that a hand held mirror is handy for looking at your work inside the oven ...saves a lot of time walking around to get a good view point of your work.

I have to tell you guys, I have nine kids, so even though this pizza oven is going to be 42", that still is not enough room to hide eggs for all them there rug rats!

I am going to hit it hard tomorrow.

I hit it hard today, the knees are sore, the neck is cricked..........but I feel good that I was able to make some serious progress today. Finished some courses and the bricks over the opening.

Here is a pic of the entrance. If you look closely, one can make out the pencil drawing and the angle iron of where I plan to make my arch.

My question, how large of opening do I allow for the vent to draw, I have seen 6" x 10" but this seems too deep?

Some domes look to have a 3" or 4" depth. Any thoughts?

                            Thanks and Happy Easter everyone

closing in on the dome. man, this is a lot harder than I thought. cracking bricks, keeping them from falling.............................I am on my fourth 50 lb back of refractory mortar. WTF?

I am in Powhatan Virginia, just west of the Capital city of Richmond.
Stop in and take a look if you are in the area.

                                cheers.
