To avoid drilling into the concrete you can simply place lengths of thin tie wire, longer than the width of your floor insulation, between the supporting slab and the floor insulation. You can then tie onto the ends of the wires that stick out. I actually don’t bother to tie down the blanket, but just build the vermicrete straight over it.Last edited by david s; 10-23-2019, 03:09 PM.Kindled with zeal and fired with passion.

Try screwing long deck screws in to the board insulation just above the concrete hearth. Also, brick wall ties have enough strength to be wedged under the insulation for a few inches. The brick wall tie has pre-drilled holes that can be used for threading wire.Last edited by Gulf; 10-23-2019, 05:19 PM.Joe Watson " A year from now, you will wish that you had started today" My Build Album / My Build

It really seems like thanksgiving turkey is a real possibility (now our Canadian thanksgiving happened October 14, so technically I missed this goal, but one holiday is as good as the next when you are cooking in an oven you built with your own hands!!!
days away from curing fires now.
Thanks to all who contributed to my understanding of this build process!!
