    Russell,
your dome looks fantastic. Can't wait to see the finished dome and the surrounding concrete counter.

Hi tall is your chimney now?

      Thanks Dino,

The SS chimney portion with the cap is 36", the brick portion from the top the the vent arch to the SS chimney is 12" so I guess 48" from top arch vent to cap.

Spent a couple hours polishing the counter top. What a wet and messy job, wore an industrial weight rain coat from work but no rain pants. So I was soaked from waist down. Used a 5" wet angle sander with a 50 grit resin diamond pad. Turned out fairly decent. Concentrated on front and side sections first since I did not know the life of the resin pads. Anyway not to bad for a rookie pour/polish. Kind of colorful...........

Ya I'm pretty sure I figured that out tonight it would be the 49" ext. layout?

The looks so great! Sounds like a messy job but well worth it for the beautiful counter.

                Thanks Dino and DJ,

Going to continue with the 50 grit then work my way to the finer grits. Going to seal with a lithium sealer which is suppose to be food safe. Running out of good weather, mountains got 3-4" snow this week.

                    Very, Very good work!

                      BB,

Did you figure out what you need? 36" ID, plus 2X4.5" for brick, plus 2x3" for insulation, plus 2x1/2" stucco or outer coating assuming an ingloo with no enclosure equals OD 52" so even to PP plans of a 49" OD plus 5" to edge puts close to the edge. See how you base materials layout, ie 16" CMUs, etc. and round up. Yell if you need more help.

                          You got it

I am temporarily back on "shift work". I should have been off for the next 6 days. But, I have to work tomorrow (Friday) for "extra coverage" at the mill. I have a previous commitment (also at the mill) to put some time in on a special project for Monday. My intentions are to start Friday evening with Karangi Dudes method. I hope that on Monday morning , I can place the doors to retain the heat, until that evening when I will ramp up some more for the next couple of days.
I also intend to get some time in on the counters while this is going on.

Multitask this weekend, worked on wet sanding counter 100, 200, 400 grit. I am dressed for the TV series Most Deadly Catch at least I stayed dry. Glass/concrete starting to shine on its own, 800, 1000, 1500 grit to go.

Also did a final dome clearing cure. No significant cracks as far as I can tell. During the last curing fire the SWMBO wanted to make S'mores, I told her it was against the WFO Forum rules to cook anything but pizza on the first maiden cooking voyage, guess who won out, I had a wood fire S'more for my first pizza........

Did a trial run on using the oven for PIZZA vs S'Mores. Started making dough last night, pick up a small bag of locally produced 00. Working with a baker who is getting me local 00 in larger 50lb bags, friend of a friend. Anyway, the SWMBO and I had a in depth discussion on how to make the dough, by weight or by volume. I selected weight, she selected volume. We each made a 4 ball batch. The weight version turned out significantly better. After sanding the counters this morning, I started up the oven again, still warm but not overly so from yersterdays final fire abt 120 degrees, no insulation on yet. Had a couple taste testers volunteer (the engineers who help with the counter pour) come over. Work reasonably well, did a couple calzones, not on purpose. With with some cold Coronas, no leftovers.

You will need to burn a lot more wood than that. When there is no more black soot in the oven it is ready.
