    Russ,

Everything is looking great. I am glad that the anchor method is working well for you. You will be done with the dome shortly. When you place the final keystone on the dome, it is going to feel like you are on top of a mountain and it is an awesome feeling. Keep up with the good work.

It always fun to see fellow WFO builders appoarching a big goal.

Crikey Russell, its rain, rain, rain here! You guys need some?
Had a couple of days where i've got out, and laid more of the rest of my Garden Cooking experience. But since then, more rain, and no photo oppos.

I believe we're gonna get some of that sunny dry stuff that's been over the states soon. It'll be sand storms and brushfires in a couple of weeks!

I found this was facinating as well when I built mine dvm:

        Russell,
Your oven's looking good. Nice joints and it looks like you are cleaning up a bit as you go. It will be much harder after it dries so try to keep up with it. Good work.

Sound like the mortar did set but you just went out of town with the rubber mallet. The mortar can only handle so much. Instead of using mortar, you can give Krazy glue a shot.

What a laybrith of supports on course 9, gravity is having its way. Really have to wait for mortar to really set. Sensitive to bumping. But getting there. Manage 1/2 a course today, lots of shaving and fitting to stay on bond, seems like almost every brick has different angles.

It looks great! Nice work! I hope I can keep mine as good as yours.

Pizzas in a few more weeks?!

If I had it to do again I would try this technique that Tscarborough shared on post #37 of DTHERR's build.

                      Hey Russell,

My build is still moving but just not as fast as I had hoped. I pulled the forms and supports off yesterday after pouring my hearth slab last week. I need to take photos and update my build thread so that I don't look like such a slacker.

End of august or labor day sounds great. Good luck!

                        WFOs,

Nothing too earth shattering on this weekend's progress. Finished another course (9) and anchored 10. Just plugging along, wanting to have a nice looking plug design, ie GianniFoccacia or KD, bar is really high, but we will see.

What is the general thought of acid washing the interior? I have been cleaning the interior with water as I installed but not an acid wash. Is there value or just pretty? If acid wash is the way to go then I want to do it now before the dome closes.

Don't acid wash the interior. If you just have a light film, use vinegar straight, but I wouldn't worry about it too much.

                            Thanks Tscar,

Like the thought of using vinegar to clean up the lime scum.

I was where you were this past Saturday. 3 hours to complete course 9. I have a deadline to start curing on my next vacation week Aug 13th.

My patience got the best of me. I used an exercise ball and finished on Sunday 11 AM. When I removed the ball, I was pleasantly surprised. I have to clean up some excess smooshed motor with the grinder which is not going to be pleasant inside the dome.....but it is closed up.

I took others advise and threw away the worries of keeping on bond and aesthetics. I kept on having the thoughts of it must be perfect only for the sole purpose of my pics that I post. I quickly gave up that thought and said function over form. I have to tell you. The bevel and angle cuts that you are about to encounter are very challenging. Without patience (I have none) it will be a toss up. Then again, that was just my experience.

You are looking golden. It shows in the quality of your build. Very Nice. Keep it going.

Those last courses seem to take forever. Hard on the old back. Hang in there, you are almost there. I think that is about where i started setting the bricks in pairs and that sped things up a little. I was using the alsey mortar which is sticks quick which helped. You have a great build going so keep the hydration flowing and the fan blowing.
