Re: 7 years in the waiting i get to start my 42" pompeii
hi guys a bit of progress to date nearly at that keystone stage ended up with a taper cut at course8 the triangle gaps which to be honest i shouldnt be bothered about as im just basically filling with firebrick anyway, where getting to big for my liking only 10 mins cutting with the sthil saw so well worth it,kept some form of triangle joint though to keep in form
i still havent needed supports yet at course 9 and the bricks are nearly vertical i knocked half the ring down on course 9 by going back to the last brick layed and tapping with the trowel when i wasnt happy with it, bad move with grog and fondue once the brick is layed never try to tap it anywere all 6 bricks ended up on the oven floor got them back up though with a lesson learnt

Yes ncman I have seen a few in the on here in the past but can't seem to find them no more had a go at it today but wasn't happy might have to be another course but cut down in height to make for a good size keystone another course of full brick would make for a small one can't win ! this is how it lookedLast edited by leetheldc; 03-27-2015, 12:26 PM.link to my effort http://www.fornobravo.com/forum/f8/7...art-20707.html

I got mine done today and was lucky enough to get my plug in one piece. Worked out nice, actually. I really don't think it matters all that much. Good luck w/it.My Build:

You got it in one piece ncman great il keep checking for your next pic see how you did it think I'm going to put in one more course just trimmed down on height to get a single keystone but just got in from a hard day poured 32 cube of concrete and dug 70 tone of muck for some foundations in this heat and plagued with little black midget flys from 730 this mornin THE OVEN CAN RAM IT TONIGHT 5 cans of Stella artois instead !Last edited by leetheldc; 03-27-2015, 12:27 PM.link to my effort http://www.fornobravo.com/forum/f8/7...art-20707.html

Get that keystone in anyway you can, I say. Once you've got the gap small enough, it doesn't really matter how you close it. Purely an aesthetic choice. How do you want it to look when you poke your head in the oven?

Hi guys I finaly plugged the oven! cut a new 3 piece keystone which worked better for my hole size another course just would of been to small a pieces I'm happy with how this one turned out
Deeja I just wanted it too look neat when I pop my head in after all the hard work put in and time taken to get this far plus asthetics is in my job description paving so it's just in me to do the best I can! But looking at this pic I still could have done better whith the joints o well
