Re: Kemo's South Austin Pizza Oven
You may not just post a picture of beer, it needs to be of the friend that helped, and of him polishing the (a) beer. Justice for the hard work contributed.

Great Job!
Ill take a picture of a beer on the table top and post it

Steve, great progress and the photos do justice to what you are accomplishing. Great friend to help out, and to share the beer

Re: Kemo's South Austin Pizza Oven
Looks good!
See it wasn't so bad.........
I was wondering if you decided to go with a cantilever or not.......but I can now see that you did, and I think you will be pleased. The look is just better in my opinion.
So are you ready for the insulating layer?
It's much easier, except for those 94 lb bags of cement.
The excitement really starts to build when it becomes brick time. It is hard work, but I think it adds to the pride factor at the end.
I finally got my arch rebuilt and managed to lay about 4 or 5 courses. It sure isn't pretty. But I'm happy with it. Dang Les and Ken........I just can't cut the angles....
I've had some camera problems... But I will post some pics soon.

Re: Kemo's South Austin Pizza Oven
Ok...day eight of work 10/8/2007
I had a good buddy come over and work the hoe while i folded concrete with the shovel. we started at 630 and finished 15bags of 80lb quickcrete by 745pm. its not so bad with 2 people! I know it wont be as smooth of a top as what Dave has there in San Angelo, but I think it will do. I tried to get fancy with the angled trowel for the front. I even hammered the side of the form all the way around to try and get everything to be smooth on the side. Hell, im just happy the thing didnt fall under all the weight

Re: Kemo's South Austin Pizza Oven
It's not so bad if you have a table and mix on the table. That way you can just pour it into the forms.
During my pour I started in the center and worked my way out. It worked well for me. The concrete all seemed to cure about the same time.
If I lived in Austin, I would bring the beer and a comfy lawn chair.
Have fun!

Re: Kemo's South Austin Pizza Oven
i have two "lackies" comming over tonight to help me mix! I had to bribe them with "Live Oak Octoberfest".
No beer till the concrete is mixed...well, maybe one or twomixing by hand is just brutal, the more people the better...

So far so good Steve.
When is the pour?
I love the idea of the canopy and lights.
I may have to give it a try.

Re: Kemo's South Austin Pizza Oven
now here is my favorite part so far; the EZ-UP Canopy. I bought some Christmas lights from the local drug store and hung it up in the Canopy. Now I have protection from any rain AND light at night when it comes time to build the dome. My razor phone camera doesnt work well at night, but the light net gives off a good amount of light and its spread out pretty good.

I should also have my EZ-UP inplace so darkness wont drive me off. I guess I should buy some more insect spray with DEET!
DAVE,
Ill be mixing by hand! I estimated about 13-14 bags of 80lb concrete. Shouldnt be too bad considering the slab took 36 bags...
