Quando ha fatto il mio barbeque il basamento l'ho fatto in blocchi con malta tra uno e l'altro, ora che ho in progetto di affiancargli un forno, il basamento lo faccio in blocchi da 12cm ma con malta tra l'uno e l'altro.

    Ciao e complimenti

Same here - by Xmas it usually warms up again to 10 C or so. But white Easter? We've had a few of those. "I'm dreaming of a white eeaaster, lalalala..." not quite the same is it?

Maybe this year'll be different though, its been snowing since last night. And with the oven finished I like snow again. I'm with amber: *sigh* so beautiful...

    Yes Amber,
in Adelaide we will heading towards cold days and warm cosy fires at night. Usually between around 8 and 12˚C, clear days, often with little or no frosts and definitely NO SNOW.
    Aint life grand!!!

Well here on the other side of the planet it's 27 C (80 F) and 65% humidity -quite unpleasant

I just wish we could get snow at appropriate times. We seem to be unable to get snow at Christmas... just times like before Thanksgiving and in March. Or April. The rest of the time we get nasty cold rain, it seems. Like today. It's a gross grey day here.

Glad yours is done now, but I'm still envious of that snow...

I think it's over rated - this was in the middle of my build last winter - NOT FUN!

Amber, I'd mail you a snow ball if I could.

You'll have to settle for a photo. This is out my back door this afternoon. And it's not even winter yet.

Elizabeth, your oven looks so pretty, in the snow or out! I'm hoping for snow this year, but I'm in Asheville so we've pretty much forgotten what snow feels like. It was cold yesterday, but today it's like 50 and drizzley. I can't wait to use my oven in the cold, though. It's a reason to get outside.

    Re: Elizabeth's oven

I do have a few cracks inside. I haven't done anything to them. They're quite narrow (a little wider when it's hot) and I don't worry about them. Cracks happen. Mine all follow mortar joints, they aren't splitting bricks, and I think they're quite normal. I also have a crack up the front facade- but it's nearly closed when the oven is cold, so it's another expansion crack. That one I will patch on the outside when the weather's a bit less gross with some elastomeric patching compound. That stuff stretches across cracks so it won't really make it go away, just make it not show and keep moisture out.

Unless you have a crack in a really bad spot, like the arch, I wouldn't do anything about them. Even in the arch I am not sure a single crack is a real problem- but more than one might be. Look at asudavew's thread- he had a problem with his arch.

Pictures might help us figure out if you need to worry or not...

Hi Elisabeth did you see any cracks on the inside of the oven if so how did you deal with them, I had a few maybe I fired it too fast (was eager to have pizza)I patched them with heat stop but I,ve seen a high heat joint compound tha is used for kiln ovens I need to fill some other small cracksI wonder if its any good ,Anybody out there know?

I fired my oven up all through the last Winter without any problems.

I must say, your oven looks really pretty in all that snow!
