      Thanks KB

Have to cut 5mm off the apron as I want to tilt it very slightly so water runs out, and I don't have the edge flush with the stainless. But it's looking good. 3 days off starting to feel a little better so hopefully will get a fair bit done.
      Cheers Colin

I feel your pain, had lots of curing planned for this weekend but rain with big wind on top of it just ruined all plans

Well I managed to get the landing fixed in place and me a little wet.

Ok bloody rained most of the weekend...... managed only to complete course 9 and bed in the Granite landing. I did do a thorough clean up that took almost half a day.

Had to lift the granite, took me 4 attempts at getting it in and positioned correctly.

Will post photo's when I get a bit more completed.
              Cheers Colin

                  Hi croc.

Got it made up by pazstone, selected from offcuts, $200. Other places were going to charge more. I went to head office in Brooklyn just up the road from me, they have other branches around state.

When I positioned it I was trying to leave a minute gap around 1mm from the stainless break based on Davids concerns, prove to be difficult or maybe I wasn't being patient

Colin, here's some stuff on stainless and thermal break you may be interested in.

Yep I read that last night. In pondering your information, the granite doesn't actually touch the steel. I have left about 1mm of air which I assume will be ash eventually... So I'm thinking it should be cool, or the granite will be. At least.

                        Today's efforts Part 1

Well finally no bloody rain.... I was able to get course 10 finished in the afternoon. Hoping to get course 11 completed tomorrow but will be taking this one slow. I have found I don't need sticks, or car jacks etc. my IT will work right through to last course.

I only have one problem when I put the respirator on and safety glasses they always fog up and you cannot see what you are grinding very dangerous and inconvenient.

Any ideas on how to stop the glasses fogging up so I can see what I am grinding ...... other than not breathing

                          Todays Efforts Part 2

For the better part I have been able to maintain those tight joints I was looking for. There are a couple of aberrations but generally the brick to brick fit has been achieved.

From course 10 I have been grinding the back of the bricks so it fits tightly inside the oven to the previous course. I got this idea from Giannifocaccia [John] to me it looks much better and maintains that tight fit.

                            Todays Efforts Part 3

                            And nearly there

I'm amazed at how the 2 dimensional arch combination of arch bricks and straights has worked so well course for course 3 dimensionally. Lined up perfectly to my dome template markings.

Moving closer to Giannifocaccia infamous octoplug [he set the bar with Doug so why not]..... 17 firebricks on course 11 and then 8 for course 12. Then the plug. Not far to go. Hopefully tomorrow and next weekend.
