    Seriously no more teasing

Unveiling of keystone and of course closure of oven below.......

Delay was totally due to the firing not working the first time. Did not have enough glaze on the edges.

It you look close it is 3 dimensional due to the raised and lowered etching of the symbol in the brick. From outside the oven it is very effective. With the flared landing easy to see also.

Congratulations. The glaze should stick if it was fired hot enough. There for the duration.

        Looks good.

          Earthenware firing 1050 C+. Stoneware firing 1200C+
Either way hotter than you'll ever get in a WFO. No it won't melt.

It will be fun watching the image reveal itself as the dome clears at the top for each firing.

Looks great, Colin! Came out very nice.

May all the bread and pizza dough you place inside the oven co-exist in harmony with the element of fire within!

Thankyou for the kind words and to all those that have assisted me throughout the build. You know who you are and I thank you all. Never did get to build a makeshift kiln when the first firing didn't work out as planned. But still might play a little with the propane torch I acquired.

Now on ward and upwards to the landing flue decorative arch, which will follow a similar theme, but slightly different and more elaborate

                          Gudday Colin
                          The keystone pretty special!
The rest of the dome is really neat. Like the use of the different brick colours high up.
That going to look real good after the fires have burnt the lime haze off and those bricks and they start glowing.
                          Regards dave

And I was going to clean them, I'm a silly main there are actually 3 differing bricks on the dome and I'm hoping that won't cause a failure. The ones I acquired from Brickie, there were 2 types and the new ones 75/51 and 75's I needed to use to form the dome.

Thank you for the a assistance with the etching, your demonstration pics helped heaps.

Well now the dome is complete I was able to move to the landing and flue gallery.

Only had a day at it, but got it done after some grief with the front arch. Wasn't happy on 6 occasions so ripped it out and did it again. Problem was in putting the last brick in I kept dislodging previous layed bricks. So decided in the end to stop being impatient and leave it too dry. Then moved to the Flue gallery side bricks. Will complete it similar to Sharkey and Russell.

I had to make an adjustment in the flue gallery to accommodate the size needed for the entry. Not overly concerned about it as it may get hidden when Decorative arch is completed.
