Pardon the correction Colin, hope ya don't mind. My holiday motivation has come and gone maybe Christmas. I hope get her tidied up by then.

Well I managed to fight the rain and get most of the gallery done. Was going to call it quits but then decided to lay the anchor plate transition tile.

The flue and anchor plate are not attached I just sat it in place to determine if the flue was straight.

Next post is everything cemented in place and Russell I have checked and double checked and hopefully it is level.

I did have one hiccup I cut the front bricks out for the flue gallery and in rebatting them to hold the gallery bricks in place I removed the wrong side of the brick dammmmmmmnnnnnn .......

Part 2 everything cemented in place.

So all I need to do now, is tidy up the gallery, smooth it out, loose those bits sticking out. Complete the dome plug second piece, drill some holes for the thermowells and then lay some bricks around the anchor plate, then onto the insulation.

        yippee fire not far away.

            Thanks Dave

Yep, I do probably 80% of the cooking. . As for the Japanese setting I in a very early post was trying to get the igloo to look like a big granite rock.

Wont happen until new year now, have lost too many weekends. Will be working on the TDC of the decorative arch once I get the template sorted. but focus is now on getting it working so that First pizza has been washed down with a nice PepperJack Shiraz.

made me lol with that line

sometimes you stop and wonder if some of us just like the idea of new "project" regardless if needed or if it is going to be used more than once a year

                      Congratulations Colin
Hope to see some fire soon, I fired my build first time on Saturday after curing for about 10 days first 7 with gas burner, will post some photos soon.

Got an idea for a gauge when doing the render too. 50mm corrugated conduit held with cable ties to wire frame. Helped do the render freehand.

Nice idea with the conduit. Might adapt that when I get to it.

I agree with Dave re blanket

What size burner did you use, gas bottle or natural gas

Know what you mean about heat stroke, one day we had 37C next day 20C.

With conduit just cut down length as you do layers up dome, then cut into small pieces for top of dome.

I used a gas bottle, started one Wednesday after work from 4pm to 10pm with a raw dome and small flame got too about 100C. Continued each night to weekend and then started all day burns with larger flame whilst doing ceramic blanket install. Placed door in oven raised on blocks to allow fire to breathe. Got too 250C continued during week and then a couple of days with fire in the hole. Thursday & Friday temps up to about 350C. Did full fire on Saturday evening to clearing dome after having gas flat out all day Saturday.

                                Liteceeper 3 more question.

Do you have a close up of how you fastened the blanket in place?.
Also did you lay the render in one day?
and how many bags and what brand render did you use?

Love the symmetry of those render application shots. Your application technique is simple and effective with the flexible pipe.
