Re: Bathurst Build 100cm ish
So first few fires done. I think I hit 170 on the fourth fire. But I can still see that there is a lot of moisture in the insulating layer under the hearth. So I'm thinking it is going to go very slowly.

G'day
Congratulations on hitting that mile stone!
Very neat work by the way, and all done with a drop saw. I'm impressed.

Re: Bathurst Build 100cm ish
Keystone and keystone cap have both been mortared in. Now we're just waiting for the mortar to cure before we can light her up and commence curing the oven!Last edited by SpottedFrog; 03-13-2015, 01:56 AM.

Re: Bathurst Build 100cm ish
Looking really good. I especially like the look of the last course. Now for the keystone!!
The smell of pizza in the air should be getting stronger by the minute.

G'day
All of the above. The soot burns off and if you have white firebrick they appear to glow a shimmery white in the heat.

Re: Bathurst Build 100cm ish
Just had a thought. When the dome clears does the black soot disappear or just turn white?

Clay bright underglaze can be fired earthenware or stoneware temps

Re: Bathurst Build 100cm ish
Or if you have a friendly potter who has a kiln usually over time the shelves they use go a bit funny they might have an old one you could cut a piece out of for your keystone? I'm guessing it is the decorative arch.

Re: Bathurst Build 100cm ish
you could also source those ceramics colours and fire to a bisque temp which is much lower
