Re: My Wood fired Redux
You just write him a blank check and tell him to fill it in when he is done. Good luck with the party, take some pics.

Re: My Wood fired Redux
With custom work, the final number is determined by the client. A lot of the components of this oven were custom made from raw form granite or concrete, so that would have an effect on pricing.
It really comes down to what the client values or wants.

Re: My Wood fired Redux
Another filler project done, the granite ridge caps. These are the last of my usable granite, the rest are small blocks..maybe I'll make some pavers or something.
I just dry set them for now.
After the stone roof goes on, I'll make some sort of cap for the gable end....not sure exactly yet, but I have a couple ideas.
The small piece will probably be set close to the chimney when it's time.
They will be elevated on the ridge with durock, then flashed with two layers of 30# felt or ice & water...whatever I have kicking around.
Aside from cutting the granite into a rectangle, all the shaping was done by hand....again, I tried not to fuss too much, I want these things to look old.

Thank you Garner. The door was a filler project, I need to pick up the stone for my roof but I'm not sure when I can get to it.
I am looking forward to seeing your roof material

Great looking door! You have an excellent eye for what looks good! While Im waiting on a roofer I may have to jump on the door thing. I have several pieces of 1" CFB left over.

Al,
I have someone in South Australia that runs dry walling workshops. Contact me via email for details.

I did think that too, but you can watch someone all day long and still not get the finer points, so a little tuition would help.
