Re: 42" build in Central Texas
They hit an underground spring in Corsicana. All the equipment is still in the pit, covered by 40 foot of water.

Re: 42" build in Central Texas
Got all the Brick Veneer done except for some around the front because I cant install the soffit until I get my lights. That has been an issue,,, finding LED recessed light that are less than 5" deep. I think I have found them but wont be here for a week. Good thing because wife and I going to the Mountains for a week.
Theres a Grimaldis Coal Fired Pizza in Reno we will hit on Tuesday! Been to the one in NYC. Hope this one is as good.
BTW, The Corsicana (Texas) Bricks have been laying around my place or my Parents place for 30-40 years. I was born there and lived there till 1975. The Brick Plant was a large employer there and we still see Corsicana Bricks in various places today. I incorporated one into my Veneer.

I would be tempted to cut it along the black line, and if you want it a tad rustic, don't cut them all exactly equal (but within a mortar joint, say 1/4-3/4), and not necessarily exactly on the arc.
Tom, have you tried The Leaning Pear out in Wimberley? Put it on your list!

Re: 42" build in Central Texas
Had the morning to work on my outer Arch. It was 38 degrees with a 25 mph north wind , just so ya know
Id love some honest opinions about how you think this stone will look with the Brick. Keep in mind that my home 12' away is stone very similar to what I used here. I may clip the top right corner off so I can merge the brick better without a gap.
Tom, I went ahead and stuck the stones to both the firebrick arch and the Hardi Backer. The thinset Im using is FlexBond and is supposed to Flex a tiny bit. I figure if it cracks due to movement, I can make a repair easily
