Thanks. I've got space around the entire oven, so all good with that. And I've conceded to rock wool for convenience and finance. I've looked a lot at gregs build and I guess I'll be ripping a lot from that. I'm just hoping that a 1560 stand will fit a 965 wfo on it

buddy, im looking at making my stand a little small and putting a lintel on it... maybe you could make the hearth a little bigger that way (since you have the room) to be sure?
      Cheers

I've decided to add a 1/2 block to the foundation to give me some more space. I'll try to put up my plan so far ....feedback would be appreciated

I found the PDF info from the Melbourne Fire Brick Company useful - I am sure something it contains would be for you as well

Looks like you are on your way. Just confirming that you are planning on building the dome on top of the floor and not around the floor so the dome is isolated from the concrete hearth, which would be a heat sink. The entry is fairly deep, which is fine if that is what you want, but it may restrict access to some parts of the oven or require longer tools.I am partial to corner builds.......

Ah...the ol' heat sink. I never thought of that...the dome is going around the floor, maybe a little insulation before the first course. Would the fire brick not be enough insulation? as the first course will sit below the oven floor. Thanks

So I've made a start...first time I've layed (laid?) A brick. It shows. All the brick cutting is done with a grinder...and that shows too...but I'm hoping it won't fall down. Any suggestions /criticism would be appreciated Click image for larger version

I'm excited to see you use those curved bricks! I think you are on the right track pb, and it looks good too.
