Re: Kemo's South Austin Pizza Oven
Halogen's have been my friend after work these days. I just shoot for 6 bricks cut and laid in the evening. I was hoping to be done by next weekend but rain tomorrow looks like it is going to kill that.
Cowboys? Go Pats (It is a good time to be a NE sports fan), especially now that F1 is done for year Macca certainly made a mess of the year...

Another reason my dome is so slow to complete....football season (college & NFL) + baseball postseason.

Re: Kemo's South Austin Pizza Oven
Well in that case. I think you will be fine.
Like I said, there is just a little more thermal mass, which could actually be a good thing.
I guess we will find out after you get to cook your first pizzas at high temps!
You gonna start the dome this week?

Re: Kemo's South Austin Pizza Oven
I plan on building a box type enclosure all the way around with metal and concrete board...finish in stucco. basically it will all be covered up.

Re: Kemo's South Austin Pizza Oven
I was looking over you floor pics again..... got me to thinking.
Depending on your measurements, there is probably not much difference either cut or not cut.
What are the dimensions on the oven floor, and what size WFO are you building?
Then again... those bricks that protrude will probably pretty get hot.
Are you planning on covering them with the insulating layer? Or is your dome gonna be housed with loose perlite poured in?Last edited by asudavew; 10-25-2007, 11:42 AM.

But it should retain heat longer.
Heat up times will be longer, but your floor will probably recharge faster after each pizza bake.
Kind of a trade off. Now, I really don't know how much longer heat up times will increase. But I imagine someone with more knowledge in this area will weigh in soon.
Looks very nice though!
Keep it going!
